Seguro update

Seguro continues to evolve with feedback from new and existing clients. The latest version of Seguro contains many new features and improvements including:

  • Contract/Job costing: Cost new jobs using flexible criteria and rules such as number of employees required by type and labour rate, plant/equipment hire required and waste and lab costs. Seguro allows you to compare estimated costs against running and final costs and build up a databank of costing information overt time making future costings more accurate.
  • Stock management: In addition to storing plant and equipment in Seguro and managing past and future testing required, Seguro now stores stock information including purchase dates, suppliers and price. Stock be assigned to contracts and jobs and any returns managed. A current picture of stock levels is always available and built-in alerts and reports can be generated when stock reaches certain levels.

We are now able to demonstrate our products over the Internet. This has a number of advantages over demo disks:

Survey reveals workers attitude to asbestos

29/05/2007: A survey carried out on behalf of the HSE has revealed maintenance workers attitude to asbestos. The findings include:

  • Many workers dismissive of the dangers posed by asbestos
  • Many workers held the view that they were unlikely to encounter asbestos due to it being banned
  • Exposure regarded as "outside their control" by some workers

Cancer sufferer suing the MoD speaks of her plight

23/05/2007: A 31 year old woman suing the MoD has said she is certain a fire at a MoD site near Donnington in 1983 is the cause of her illness. Full story: BBC website.

HSE warns of the dangers of working with asbestos after Hereford company prosecuted

18/05/2007: The HSE has warned companies to take extra care when demolishing buildings containing asbestos cement sheets. The warning comes after Wye Valley Demolition Ltd of St Weonards, Hereford, was fined £6,000 and asked to pay costs of £13,621.49 following the release of asbestos during the demolition of a former grain store building in Bodenham.

This prosecution followed an incident between 25 and 29 June 2004 during the demolition of a former grain store building at Chapel Lane, Bodenham. The building contained asbestos cement sheets which should have been removed under controlled conditions but which instead were smashed to the ground by a machine then spread over the demolition site. Derby City Council fined after admitting asbestos safety breaches

15/05/2007: Derby City Council has been fined £50,000 with costs of £20,000 after a school was closed for several weeks after asbestos was disturbed during window replacement work. The council and contractor were aware of the presence of asbestos but failed to take appropriate precautions exposing both staff and pupils. Source: BBC website.
